I was born on Ponta Grossa on 1967. On 1988 while I was working at a bus company I got the information that SENAC (Association of Members of Commerce) was promoting an artistic drawing course. I decided to apply for it, and fortunately I was able to make the course and to conclude it. Then I got fired from my previous job, and while I was unemployed I worked on a knitting that was on a serigraphy in Curitiba, a city near Ponta Grossa. I have worked there for 3 months, but me and my boss didn`t arrived to an agreement about the correct payment. So I went back to Ponta Grossa and as I was unemployed again I began to take some trips with my neighbor with the purpose to help him on his job. He was working on technical assistance of sawmill machines and he had to travel to States in Brasil like Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Santa Catarina. And by the end of October on 1989, I began to work for the same company Iwas traveling for.
On the first end on the second month everything was almost perfect, I had a good salary and liked so much what I was doing specially because I had the opportunity to know many places and many people. But on the 3 rd mouth on this job, on December 12 th, 1989, my got a huge change. As I mentioned I was working with a friend traveling, those travels were made by car.
During one of this travels, when we were near a city called Campinas (in Sao Paulo) we had an accident. After that I was admitted on the Unicamp`s Hospital (Unicamp is a known University in Brasil). I woke up without knowing the severity of the accident. So I asked it to a nurse and she said that I had a lesion on the cervical spine, specifically at the vertebra C5, C6 and C7 and I was stagnant from the neck until my feet. I received this new but I didn`t feel despaired, I was able to keep calm. After a month at the hospital, and completely dependent of my mother I could come back to my home in Ponta Grossa and I had an appointment, a consultation with a doctor in Unicamp in a month. I went to Campinas for the consultation on an ambulance.
During the consultation the Doctor said that I was ok and my movements would come back after some time. After that I was in trouble because the ambulance that took me and my mother to Campinas didn’t wait for us and came back to my hometown. So, without the possibility to come back to Ponta Grossa, my mother found a kind of hostel at the city. We stayed there and some days after that my mother was so lucky… She found a friend that I met on the trip before the accident. This friend took me to his brother`s home, a sawmill where I have been before the accident. His brother received me and my mother there, and we stayed there for 6 months.
During this months I had to travel for 100km everyday by ambulance to go to the physiotherapy, and then came back to sawmill where I was a guest.
When I felt better I decided to come back to my hometown with my mother and I went to physiotherapy every day. After many months I could feel that I was recovering some movements of my arms, but my fingers were still paralyzed. At this point I tried to draw again, with some special technics that I have learned. At the beginning I have faced it like a kind of exercise, I used the graphite and I tried to draw faces that I found out on magazines and on newspapers. After a while I tried to paint using canvas because I have been encouraged by a friend that was a plastic artist. I began to paint at home with acrylic paint. I was able to paint some canvas and I realized that people liked what I was making and I also sold some of those canvases. After that I stopped painting for some years. So, finally by the 2004`s end the same artist plastic friend encouraged me to paint again. At this point an aunt of mine bought the material that I would need to paint and you can check the result on the historic presented below.
I have to say that I am conquering little by little my space on my hometown with persistence and humility.
